Worked educational examples
1. Ordinary driver, one 1-point seatbelt code, plenty of room under 15
Money-side options dominate today: the demerit column is small relative to the threshold, and demerit enforcement is not proclaimed. Still mark the calculator honestly (pending while open; final only when you treat the matter as concluded for modelling).
2. Driver modelling 12–14 final points already
The same Rand fine can sit next to a larger licence-risk weight once demerits enforce. Use the calculator to see distance to 15 before you assume a “small” notice is trivial on the points side. Pending→final scenario →
3. Owner received the notice; someone else drove
Nomination is a forms-and-deadlines problem. The calculator cannot prove who drove; it can only help each person model codes if they know what was charged.
Pay early discounts vs demerit points
