Demerit points
4 Moderate

Demerit point values are taken from Schedule 3, column 6 of the Administrative Adjudication of Road Traffic Offences Regulations, 2026 (GN R.7646, Government Gazette 54922). This is an unofficial summary for convenience; verify code 5510 against your infringement notice and the official gazette.

Code 5510 (Sect. 61(3)) is an AARTO infringement: removed a vehicle which was involved in an accident from the scene of such accident without the permission of the owner, driver or operator of such vehicle or the person who may lawfully take possession of the vehicle. A final charge here adds 4 of the 15 points needed for a driving licence suspension (about 27% of the threshold).

What this means for your demerit total

If this charge becomes final against you, it would add 4 demerit points toward the 15-point disqualification threshold (regulation 20(6)). That is about 27% of the published total on its own. Demerit recording and suspension under Act sections 24–28 were not proclaimed as of August 2026 — treat this as educational until official channels confirm your status.
