Demerit points

Demerit point values are taken from Schedule 3, column 6 of the Administrative Adjudication of Road Traffic Offences Regulations, 2026 (GN R.7646, Government Gazette 54922). This is an unofficial summary for convenience; verify code 5087 against your infringement notice and the official gazette.

Code 5087 (Reg. 309(1)) is an AARTO infringement: operated motor cycle etc. with the feet not resting on the front footrests and where the design of such cycle made it possible to do so, the cyclist was not seated astride on the saddle. A final charge here adds 1 of the 15 points needed for a driving licence suspension (about 7% of the threshold).

What this means for your demerit total

If this charge becomes final against you, it would add 1 demerit point toward the 15-point disqualification threshold (regulation 20(6)). That is about 7% of the published total on its own. Demerit recording and suspension under Act sections 24–28 were not proclaimed as of August 2026 — treat this as educational until official channels confirm your status.
