Demerit points
3 Moderate

Demerit point values are taken from Schedule 3, column 6 of the Administrative Adjudication of Road Traffic Offences Regulations, 2026 (GN R.7646, Government Gazette 54922). This is an unofficial summary for convenience; verify code 5070 against your infringement notice and the official gazette.

Code 5070 (Reg. 308(1)(e)) is an AARTO infringement: driver of a vehicle occupied such position that he or she did not have complete control over the vehicle or did not have full view of the roadway and traffic ahead of such vehicle. A final charge here adds 3 of the 15 points needed for a driving licence suspension (about 20% of the threshold).

What this means for your demerit total

If this charge becomes final against you, it would add 3 demerit points toward the 15-point disqualification threshold (regulation 20(6)). That is about 20% of the published total on its own. Demerit recording and suspension under Act sections 24–28 were not proclaimed as of August 2026 — treat this as educational until official channels confirm your status.
