Demerit point values are taken from Schedule 3, column 6 of the Administrative Adjudication of Road Traffic Offences Regulations, 2026 (GN R.7646, Government Gazette 54922). This is an unofficial summary for convenience; verify code 2001 against your infringement notice and the official gazette.

Code 2001 (Reg. 124(a)) is an AARTO infringement: being in charge or control of a vehicle, employed or permitted a person to drive the vehicle without a PrDP of the appropriate category.. A final charge here adds 5 of the 15 points needed for a driving licence suspension (about 33% of the threshold).

What this means for your demerit total

If this charge becomes final against you, it would add 5 demerit points toward the 15-point disqualification threshold (regulation 20(6)). That is about 33% of the published total on its own. Demerit recording and suspension under Act sections 24–28 were not proclaimed as of August 2026 — treat this as educational until official channels confirm your status.
